Welcome Sportsfans !
Fancy running or walking amongst the rows of Marlborough's world-renowned vineyards?
The second annual Saint Clair Vineyard Half Marathon will be held on Saturday 10th May 2008. Entries are now closed! To avoid missing out in 2009, please join our mailing list by emailing from the Contact Us page.
This 21km off-road run or walk captures the very essence of Marlborough: vines for miles, stunning scenery, autumn colours and diverse landscapes.
The course takes you between the rows of Marlborough's vineyards, for a unique chance to get up close and personal with Marlborough's famous Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir grapes. For this, we're eternally grateful to the private land owners who have allowed access through their vineyards and farms - without their permission, this event wouldn't be possible. Please visit the Super Heroes page for a list of these generous people and companies.
As a deserved reward, every finisher (over 18 yrs of age) will receive a complimentary bottle of wine from the highly acclaimed Saint Clair Estate Wines (children taking part in the family relay section will be delighted with their Snackwise picnic pack). Stick around after the race and laze the afternoon away with family and friends enjoying the cafe-style food and Saint Clair wines available.
A number of changes have been made for the 2008 event, including:
- $5.00 from every entry will be donated to Project K Marlborough. Project K is a youth development program designed to allow teenagers to achieve to their potential.
- There are limited entries available for families, who can complete the event as 2 x 10.5km relay legs. Mum does one leg, Dad does the other, and the kids join in with either Mum or Dad.
- The introduction of automatic transponder timing, as well as online entry capability.
- Different rows will be marked for runners vs walkers to accommodate for the increased numbers, and to ensure runner's aren't delayed by walkers around the course.
